Koppla: AI Social Integration App for Immigrant Youth, connecting young immigrants with community activities, events, and language support through personalized AI recommendations.

I initiated a collaboration with Sweden.se to explore how AI and design thinking could be used to help young newcomers build stronger local connections. The concept uses machine learning and computer vision to recommend nearby events, cultural activities and youth meetups based on each user's interests, behaviour and location. Koppla also integrates with users’ digital calendars to simplify scheduling, reminders and engagement tracking.

Beyond the core functionality, the goal was to create a data-informed bridge between young immigrants and their surrounding communities. By analysing engagement patterns and content interactions, the concept illustrates how AI-supported recommendations could help increase participation in local programs by up to 10–15%, supporting more equitable access to social opportunities.

A concept prototype was developed to demonstrate how activity recognition, personalised suggestions and scheduling features could be delivered in a youth-friendly interface aligned with Sweden.se’s mission to empower young people through technology and community connection.
