Student project at Hyper Island
The Energy Transition Assistant: A digital tool enabling Volvo customers to transition from diesel to electric machinery through tailored planning, energy optimisation and emissions tracking.
As an AI Business Consultant at Volvo Construction Equipment (CE), I led the concept and strategic development of The Energy Transition Assistant, an AI-supported app designed to accelerate the shift from diesel-powered to electric construction equipment.
The solution, later recognised with Volvo’s “Runner-Up Best Project”award, introduced ChargePath, an AI-powered transition system supporting customers through every stage of their electrification journey — from early planning to implementation and continuous optimisation.
The app’s AI modules were designed to support:
1. Planning & Readine
Personalised transition roadmaps based on each customer’s operational data, including AI-supported feasibility analysis, cost–benefit modelling and risk assessment.2. Implementation & Optimisation
AI models for energy-usage forecasting, EV-fleet optimisation and real-time carbon-emission tracking, helping customers reduce costs and monitor progress toward sustainability and net-zero goals. Early modelling showed the potential to reduce overall fleet emissions by up to 20%.3. Training & Continuous Improvement
AI-driven learning modules providing customised training, operational guidance and performance insights to support long-term adoption and improvement.I also developed a sustainable business model combining subscription tiers, consultancy services, circular recycling-programme revenue and electric-asset sales to ensure long-term scalability and profitability. A concept prototype was produced to show how ChargePath could guide customers from initial assessment to full electrification.
This project demonstrated how combining AI and data-driven strategy can accelerate sustainable transformation in the construction industry while creating measurable value, new revenue streams and strong ROI for Volvo CE and its customers.
